Buddy

I’m “Buddy”, a six year old Lab mix.  I was originally adopted on “free adoption for seniors” day at the SPCA back in January 2024.

Unfortunately my dad passed in August, and I ended up with my dad’s family. However, it’s just not the home form me. I was put on Prozac from the time I was first adopted, but it’s not doing much for me. I’m getting weaned off it slowly.

I am very much a “one person” dog, as I am super loyal and want to please.

Love getting attention, being petted, brushed, back scratches, and love relaxing and sleeping near you.

I’m sweet, attentive, know basic obedience, and am fully housetrained.

I love going for walks, playing in the snow, fetching, but I can get reactive if I meet dogs on leash.

Now for the anxious side of me:  I can be reactive on leash, I will get into the garbage if left alone, I will bark at people entering the house, but also at movement within the house.

You see, I’m now in a family of five, and it’s too much for me. I was put in a situation before the holidays where stress made me react and snap. Nothing major, but enough to realize I’m not in the right environment.

I’m good with other dogs in general, I Iive with a little fluffy dog now and we’re great.

Ideally I’m looking for a structured and quiet household so I can get over my anxiety and find my forever home.

Einstein

I’m Einstein, a two year old, 14lb Yorkshire looking for his permanent home!

I’ve already been dumped twice that I can remember, so I’m looking for at least my 3rd home.

My youth is unknown. I am not a fan of kids at all and could easily nip, so no kids in your entourage is best, and I am jealous of other dogs getting the attention. That means, I want to be the prince in my new home.

However, I can be manipulative,  which means I might have gotten away with everything as a pup. I will growl and show you my attitude if I’m not happy.

Ideally, I need a one person home, but someone very structured. Otherwise I will take over and run the house. You will become mine, and I will rule!

Previous experience with dogs like me is a must. I’m clean, friendly, affectionate but a little needy of attention. No separation anxiety, but when you’re home, I’ll want to share your space.

If you think I could be the guy for you, forever this time, then put in your application.

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Teega

I’m Teega, an 8 year old Chihuahua who was quite neglected, living with a senior who was recently hospitalized and won’t be able to take me back.

I’m super skittish, even scared at the moment. It will take me some time to learn new ways.

I’ve never been out, always stayed in the apartment. Pipi pads was my thing, I’ve never even had a collar around my neck.

I’m looking for someone who knows chihuahuas like me, can help me come out of my shell, have the patience to let me come around. I won’t be ready to jump in your arms when I first come to your home.

Ideally no kids, that would be hard for me to get used to.

If you’d like to give me a chance at a structured, loving, stable home, you know what to do! Apply to adopt me!

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

El Diablo

I’m El Diablo. I came from the same home as Toupie. I’m about 8 years old, and also a Chihuahua, but I’m fat! I’m close to 10 lbs.

I’m also getting a full dental, as my teeth are really bad too. Brushing my teeth will be a must of you don’t want me to go through that again.

I’m much more scared and nervous than Toupie. I’m just starting to venture around the house, and came on the couch recently.  With time and patience, I will learn to trust.

I’ve also never been on a leash, just having a collar on is a big deal, so you will need patience to teach me that outside is fun.

If you want to give me that special home, I’ll be super grateful.

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Toupie

I’ve been named Toupie, because I turn around regularly. It’s either from being in a cage at a pet shop, or it’s neurological. Either way, it doesn’t hinder my ability to get around.

I’m about 4 years old, and a very tiny Chihuahua. I came from a home where there was 20 of us living with an elderly lady. We were not in a “bad” situation, but she could no longer care for us properly.

I’m having a full dental this week as my teeth are horrible, so we’ll see if I lose any or even all!

In super sweet, a little shy, very gentle, mellow and super quiet. I’ve never been outside, so pee pads is where I go at the moment. Maybe in the Spring, you can take me out for walks and try to teach me.

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

To meet me will be to love me, I guarantee!

Noodle

Hi, I’m Noodle! I’m probably a poodle mix and about two years old. My hair can grow quite long and get matted so I need to be kept trimmed and regularly brushed.

I weigh about 6 kilos (13 lbs) so a “small” dog but I’m big enough to not be too delicate.

I’m very sweet, quiet, friendly, forgiving, cuddly and happy go lucky. No separation anxiety. I get along with dogs and adults and would probably enjoy kids to play with too.

I’m a young dog so I need to get out every day to stretch my legs. In the winter I get cold (even when I wear a jacket) so I need to be able to run to warm myself up.

The people in my last home had health issues that meant they couldn’t walk me any more, so now I’m looking for my forever home. Whoever you are, I know we can make eachother happy!

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ (http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/) and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

I will be quite popular, so get your application in sooner than later.

Garnet

My new name is Garnet. My past is unknown, I came from a home that had 20 of us, all small dogs.

I’m a mix, unknown, but possibly Chihuahua/Daschund mix. One of my parents had long hair.

I’m about 4 years old, and very nervous in my new surroundings. I will need time to feel comfortable being touched and picked up, but I’m not agressive at all.

Ideally a home that can take me for walks, give me the opportunity to discover the real world and be someone’s best buddy.

If you think you might be interested in me, put in an application. As time goes, I’ll come out of my shell and by the time we get to meet, you’ll know more about me.

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Loki

You’re looking for a Doodle? I may be the one for you.

My name is Loki, I’m just over a year old and I’m a Doodle. I was sold as a Poodle/English Sheepdog, designer name “Shepa-doodle” .

I’m a very sweet dog, good with all dogs, even annoying barky chihuahuas, and I’m great with kids.

I love my toys, and could play fetch all day. I’m therefore looking for an active family with kids who are old enough to play with me. That would be my ideal home.

I walk very well on leash, fully housetrained and crate trained if you leave me alone. Due to my young age, your shoes could possibly become toys when you’re not there, so crating me in the beginning would be the best.

I was recently shaved by a groomer who gave me the worst haircut ever (shaved me right down), but it will grow back. The pictures are how I looked before the bad hair day!

If you think I’m for you, put your application in. I may be quite popular so don’t wait too long!

Kevin

I’m Kevin, a miniature Poodle mix, maybe with a shih tzu and around 2 years old. I’m around 15-18 lbs so not very miniature!

I come from the James Bay area, I used to live with a family and young kids. Unfortunately I’m now looking for a new home.

I’m good with other dogs, clean in the house, friendly and affectionate. I’m great with kids, can stay alone and can also be crated when you’re out

If you think we could be pals, put in your request.

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Toto

My name is Toto. I’m a.6 yr old male Shih Tzu, looking for a new home.

I’m great with small dogs, but a little nervous around large ones.

I lived with cats, kids and I am super friendly.

I am used to pee pads, but have never been on a leash. So walking me will possibly take some learning. I do go in the yard and used to follow my mom off leash when she went out front with me.

Obviously in a new area, I don’t recommended it as I may run off. I’ll make a great companion for all ages!

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Hercules

I’m Hercules, born in February 2016, and I’m a standard Daschund. A little on the heavier side, but nothing we can’t fix!

I’m looking for a new home, as my family has grown and I’m no longer tolerant of children.

I’m housetrained, chill and easy going. I love to go for walks, despite my short legs.

I’ve lived with cats and have no issues with them, and I’m super friendly with all dogs.

Ideally would be a retired person or couple who likes to go for daily walks. I love to eat, so to maintain my shape, we’ll have to adjust to a routine!

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

I may be the perfect companion for you.

Bobo

I’m Bobo, a 2 year old long haired male Chihuahua. I’m charming, cute and super affectionate.

I just got neutered, so I’m still marking a little bit, but with some training, I should catch on quickly.

I go outside, but also could learn to use pee pads.

I was given up because I bit a child, so ideally no kids for me. Better safe than sorry! Chihuahuas are not that great with kids in general.

Ideally I’m looking for someone who loves company, I’ll become your best buddy.

If you  think I could be a match for you, put in your application!

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Gringo

I’m Gringo, a tiny 5 lb chihuahua. I’m loveable, affectionate, playful and independent.

I’m 7 years old, and I love people, but don’t pick me up!. I’ll jump on your lap, sleep in your bed, lay on the sofa with you, but don’t pick me up!

I love going for walks, love treats but I’m a picky eater. Some fat on me certainly wouldn’t hurt!

Ideally I see myself with one person, and eventually you’ll be able to pick me up, but you’ll need to give me time for  that. I just got neutered and a full dental, so I have beautiful teeth. But… I do still mark from time to time. I’ll need a little work on that issue, so access to a yard would help.

If you think I dude like me could be your next buddy, you know what to do! To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Hawaiian Milo

I’m Milo, and in Hawaii they pronounce it “Mee-lo”.

I’m a mutt of a mutt, my mix is really a guess. I’m about 25 lbs, so not a very big dog.

I’m about 4 years old, and was lucky enough to get out of the shelter for a new life in Canada.

I’m super friendly, addictions affectionate and playful. I’m looking for a family that will love me forever.

If you think you’re the one, follow the link to apply. Visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Pogo

I’m Pogo, a 4 year old standard Daschund, and unfortunately I’ve been diagnosed with a condition that is rendering me blind. It’s called SARDS https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudden_acquired_retinal_degeneration_syndrome.

There is no cure, just getting used to being blind. It is progressing daily, unfortunately, so I will soon be totally blind.

Obviously stairs are to be avoided, not only due to my breed, but now my blindness.

I’m super friendly, great with kids and other dogs. I just need a place where I can walk around without bumping into too many things. Eventually, I’ll know my way around.

If you want to become my new family, please apply. I deserve a great home and will give you all my love in return.

Chloe Mork

I’m Chloe Mork, a 5 year old retired breeding mom. They call me a Morkie, but I’m really just a designer mutt.

I’m a very sweet dog, a little skittish at first but once I get comfortable it gets better. I will still occasionally jump at loud noises but generally I’m very calm.

I prefer a home with no young children, as I don’t quite get their body language and I may want to stay far.

At home I like to snuggle up with you and would love to sleep in your bed.

I get along with other dogs, but I’m socially awkward and don’t really know how to play. I don’t even know what to do with toys. I bring them from room to room once in a while, but I’d like for someone to teach me how to actually play!

I have been learning to walk on a leash, but it’s still some work. I can be reactive when I see other dogs. As for my business, I haven’t figured out if I prefer grass, or the middle of the street!

I’m also pee pad trained but until you get the placement of them pads right,  I may have accidents. You do need to watch me, as sometimes I’ll eat my poop.

I have no problem staying home alone, no separation anxiety.

I would be the ideal companion to someone who lives a quiet and laidback life. I will be loyal and give so much love to whoever has the opportunity to adopt me.

It will just take some time and patience but I’m well worth it.

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Stello

I’ve been named Stello by my rescuer and we’re going with that!

I’m a Yorkshire mix, probably around 4 years old, and I’m a total mystery.

I was found abandoned, shivering and scared in a local park. Hours went by, nobody came looking for me so a lady took me home.

After checking to see if someone was looking, contacting authorities, checking for a microchip, I was brought to Sophie’s Dog Adoption.

My teeth were horrendous, so I had a full dental for, but we also discovered that my back legs are atrophied. I was walking real weird, the the x-rays show my femur on both sides, are curved and deformed.

I don’t remember my past, but my nails were sooooo long they were literally circles, so it looks like I grew up in a horrible place, probably a cage with a wire floor.

However, I can do pretty much anything, it doesn’t affect me physically.

I’m friendly, quiet, clean, love walks and very affectionate. I’d be a great dog for a lot of different homes. I just need to find the best!

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Fiona

My name is Fiona. I’m a Giant Schnauzer and I’m a beautiful big girl at 80+ lbs (I could lose a few lbs).

I’m almost 8 and travelled from Mexico, but my family had a baby, and I’m really not a fan. Snarling, growling, barking… My humans are afraid I’ll eventually her her.

So here I am, looking for a mellow household for my retired years.

I’m great with other dogs, walk super well on leash, easy to groom and just a big, easy going girl!

If you think you’d like me to spend the rest of my life with you, put in your application.

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Milo

I’m Milo, a typical backyard breeder dog. At barely 1-1/2 years old, I’m looking for a new home.

I’m super skittish, scared of people, my own shadow and anything else that moves.

I was just neutered, and the vet discovered a serious heart murmur, grade 6 on 6. That means I’ll need to keep a mellow life, limited exercise and no excited play.

Once I get to know you, I’ll cuddle with you, but for now I need to be “handled with care”. No trying to grab me, pick me up, make me sleep on your lap. That will take some time. The more you push, the more I pull away.

I’m looking for that perfect home, who will know to love me despite my quirks, and help me overcome my fears.

To apply, visit http://www.sophiesdogadoption.com/application-forms/adoption-form/ and follow the procedure to obtain an application form.

Packo

I’m Packo and I was told I’m a Chihuahua/Sheltie mix, but I never saw my birth certificate. I’m not even sure of my birthday.

I’m about a year old, I’m great with kids over 5, I’ve lived with a cat and get along great with other dogs.

Ideally not the best apartment dog, as I can bark at noises, when I’m excited, etc.

I’m ok being alone during the day, not destructive, clean and generally easy to train.

I’m friendly, affectionate and walk great on a leash. If you think I could be the dude for you, fill out a form.
