My name is Joy, and I was rescued from the streets of Cancun. It was pretty obvious this was not safe for me and an angel rescued me from that life. I’m barely a year old and deserve a loving home.

I’m loving, more like adoring. I am loyal from the start and love unconditionally, and while it’s obvious I’ve been disappointed before, it’s also clear I’m willing to give life another chance.

When I arrived at the shelter I was shy, hiding as far away as possible inside the crate… but it took less than a day for me to come out of my shell and start wagging my tail and looking at people with my sad eyes, full of love. They say I’m a little gem…

While loving and curious, I have a preference for women over men, and it takes me a bit longer to warm up to men…

I’m still quite shy because of the flight and change of weather, but I’m coming around.

I’m Thunder Bolt , a 6 yr old Italian Greyhound. I recently got neutered and needed dental surgery to remove most of my teeth. I have zero upper teeth, so you’ll need to brush the teeth I have on the bottom, on order to keep them free of tartar.

I’m Enzo Shorkie, and I’m a 4 year old Shih Tzu/Yorkshire mix.

I had a very neglected past and lack of socialization. I’m wary of new people I meet, but become friendly pretty quickly.

I’m not sure how to walk in a leash without getting super excited and reacting to people and animals I meet. Some work is needed to make walks pleasurable.

I’m Avellana, a sweet, caring, playful, smart, food motivated puppy. I’m 3 and a half months old, and of unknown mixed breed. I should grow to a maximum of 30 lbs, most likely.

I had an uncertain start in life at a young age, however since being in rescue, I am thriving!

I love playing with the other young dogs and I’ve learned good manners through this.

At my foster home, I’ve been doing an excellent job with house training!  I will let my foster know I need to go out by doing a little dance or whine, and she promptly takes me out.

I’m learning to be content in the crate at night and am so happy to see my person in the morning, hopping around and giving kisses.

I am truly one special girl who just wants to love and be loved and will make an excellent member of your family.

Please keep in mind I’m a puppy so need to chew on things. Having plenty of toys around to redirect me is a must and I happily go for the toy.

I’m Bettsi, a sweet Pomeranian who needed a dental so badly, I lost 20 teeth. 16 already had fallen out by the time I arrived at Sophie’s Dog Adoption, so that leaves me with 6 teeth, all on the same side. So they’ll need to be brushed as I can’t really “chew” anything hard.

I’m about 9 years old, but I’m very good shape. Heart, eyes, lungs, all good!

I’m an older girl, about 9 years old, and arrived with horrendous teeth. Luckily, Sophie’s is having a full dental done, so we’ll see if I have any teeth left!

I’m a mix, most likely a Chihuahua mixed with a Parsons Terrier. I’m about 12 lbs, so a tiny girl.

I’m Dale! I’m an English bulldog mix from California. I’m about 5 years old, and here’s my story:

I was pulled from Contra Costa animal shelter, where I was on the euthanasia list back in July due to “lack of space” and bad skin problems at the time.

I went to coyote Crossing animal ranch in Byron, California and stayed on the farm from July until November.

During that time, I was being kept outside, mainly in a kennel with another dog. I then travelled to Montreal by ground transport.

I saw the vet the day after I arrived here because my skin needed attention.  My ears were badly infected as well.

My skin is doing much better. I have food allergies and am on purina vet hypoallergenic dog food. I’m also on antibiotics, an anti-allergy, ear drops, medicated baths, and medicated foam between my toes. It’s working wonders!

I’ve been living in a home, maybe for the first time. Everything is new for me. Unloading the dishwasher, folding laundry etc… like what’s this? What are you doing? 

I’m happy with a few short walks a day; one in the morning (I literally need to be forced to go out unless I’m desperate for a pee) and a short afternoon walk. I am fully housetrained.

I sleep a lot and then we go on our night walk, which can last about 25 minutes. After that, I’m good to just hang out with the kids. 

Right now, I’m living in a house with three kids (4,5,11) and a cat. I do really well with the kids, but I’m a strong boy and don’t seem to know my size. I am a “bully” breed after all.

Unfortunately, I’m really not a fan of the cat, so it’s not working out. In California, there was many cats on the property and I did just fine with them. I walked right past them, not bothered at all. I think living in a home with a brand new cat is too much for me.  I get overstimulated at the sight of the cat and it’s pretty hard to calm me down afterwards. And when I get overstimulated, I chew stuff (blankets, pillows, etc).

I’ve never been on a leash so I’m still learning what is expected of me on a walk. I don’t pull, but often stop, look up at you like what now? Then I’ll start walking, then stop and look up at you. 

I’ve learned what having a family is and I’m now ready for my permanent home!

I’m Dio, a one year old, male Cocker/Poodle mix.

My past is unknown, but I have very sweet qualities. A little “marking” as I’m not neutered, but that’s happening in a few days.

Not sure about kids, as I do a little resource guarding with food, and I don’t like my feet touched very much. Probably had a bad experience with nail cutting.

I came looking like a shaggy rug, so had to be shaved down. I’m not as cute, but you can now see my face.

I’m Pirelli, a 7 year old Chinese Crested dog, weighing 15 lbs. The vet says I’m a little chunky!

Also almost entirely naked with glamorous long hair and boots. 

I’m in good health, though I’ll need you to help me look after my skin and protect me from cold and sunburn. 

I’m a bit nervous with new dogs and people. Sometimes I even bark at them but I make friends within a minute, so all is good. I like spending time with my dog friends. I’ve lived with cats in the past, and ok with older kids.

Indoors I’m super-cuddly. I want to play and I want to be under your blanket with you. We can watch all your favourite movies together.  

I love going on walks, especially if I can take my time. My favourite game when I go outside is wandering around, lifting my leg and peeing on things. I don’t play that game when I’m inside though.
