Chico Chi 2

Hi there! My name is Chico Chi 2. I’m about 6 yrs old, weigh around 10 lbs and am in good health aside from having terrible teeth right now. Sophie will be getting a dental cleaning and some extractions done for me asap.

My brother Pepito and I were surrendered to SDA because our human could no longer keep us due to circumstances out of her control. She was incredibly devasted to have to let us go but knew SDA would find us the perfect new forever homes.

I’m a great little dude. I get along well with other small dogs but I’m not really interested in the big ones. I just don’t care much if they invade my space and will snarl a bit to let them know to back off. As for cats, I totally ignore them. I’m good with kids granted they handle me with great care. A little thing like me could easily get injured if dropped or manipulated too roughly.

I’m not much of a barker. I only tend to bark if other dogs are barking but I also sometimes bark at the TV. Hee hee! I’m a quirky little fellow at times. I have learned to ditch the pipi pads in my foster home and now ask for the door. That being said, I may still have an accident from time to time if you have something that looks like a pipi pad to me in your home.

My ideal home should make to sure to take excellent care of my mouth by brushing my teeth and gums on a regular basis and providing me with dental chews daily. I’m not sure yet how many teeth I will have left once I get my dental done so I may need to be on moist food for a while after that. I don’t appear to have any separation anxiety but I’ve never been home totally alone before. Let’s just say that it will be important not too make a big deal when you leave to go out. I would hate te develop SA and have you return me because it bothers the neighbours.

Rain

I’m Rain and I was found on the highway in the pouring rain in Beirut last year and was flown to Montreal in April 2022 for a chance at a good life.

Even though I’ve been in foster care for a year, I am still super nervous. I’m not used to human contact, so I’m looking for a home that will give me time to adjust to my new life.

I’m scared but not aggressive, however, touching me is a thing I still don’t like. Not having ever had a collar or leash, it’s been a challenge. I don’t like being grabbed by the collar, and I still hate the idea of a leash. I just don’t move.

So I need a home with a fully fenced-in yard so I can go in and out on my own. I’m good with dogs but show mild resource guarding with my food. I could possibly live with older kids and a cat.

I’ve been crate trained, but I am fine being left alone. It may be a good idea at the beginning when you’re out just in case.

I’m about 3 years old with a lifetime of learning still to come. I am clean in the house and will scratch at the door to go out. I enjoy being outside now that it’s getting warm. You must supervise me however as I tend to flee. I always look sad. I recently had puppies when I was found but my rescuers were unsuccessful in locating them. It is very important that you do not feel sorry for me, however. I need you to be confident and surround me with positive energy so I can feed that off of you.

Bailey B

I’m Bailey B. Was found on the streets of Lebanon and had the wonderful opportunity to come to find a home in Canada.

Obviously, I’m a Terrier, so the attitude comes with it. I’m most likely a Beagle/Daschund mix, about 5 years old. I do like kids, and love attention and affection, but also a little spoiled. So no small children for me, please. Mature and dog-savvy kids over 10 could do. No cats or other small pets. I am dog selective so a proper intro is a must.

I can nip at you if you do stuff I don’t like and can be dominant in play. So ideally an experienced family with my type of breed would be best. However I’m not a very active dog, so I don’t like biking, jogging, or long walks for me. Regular daily exercise and plenty of mental stimulation will keep me happy. My new home must absolutely offer me a great deal of structure. That means not letting me up on the couch or bed without your permission. I can be quite manipulative so it’s important you set the tone for me the moment I arrive. You’re in charge, not me.

If you think I’m the pooch for you and you’re ready to commit to my well-being for the rest of my life, fill in your application!

Jackson B

My name is Jackson B, and I was rescued from the streets of Beirut. I weigh 75 lbs, probably a husky mix and approximately 5 years old

My energy is low-medium. I’m lazy inside but love my walks and even enjoy a light jog.

I LOVE playing with other dogs, my tail is like a helicopter. I adore the dog park. I’m also very friendly with strangers.

My foster mom works all day and I am free to roam in the apartment. I’m not at all destructive and my adorable face is waiting in the window when she comes home.

I LOVE car rides and sticking my head out the window (while safely attached). I get smiles and ‘awwwws’ from everyone we pass – even people in bumper to bumper traffic which is saying something!

I can live in an apartment. I’m not allowed on the furniture and respect that even when you’re not home (as long as I have a comfy bed to myself).

I am NOT ok with cats, but fine  with dog-savvy children over the age of 10. However, I am very strong, so must be supervised properly.

I am ALMOST the perfect dog.

I’m  such a sweetheart 99.9% of time. The 0.1% comes out when I REALLY want something and you’re standing in my way.  If you hold your ground while keeping a safe distance, I relent. This isn’t every time you try to set boundaries, it happens very very rarely and it would be unfortunate to judge me too harshly because of it…

All in all I’m a great dog, but I’m looking for someone who will not be intimidated by my antics.

If you think you’re the one for me, download and return an application.

Chance B

Hello, my name is Chance B.

I am a 5-year-old female American Pitbull Terrier-American Bulldog mix.
I weigh about 50 lbs and I’m in good health.

I am an amazing girl originally rescued in Lebanon and I’m now looking for my forever home here in Montreal.

I am quite shy at first but once I start trusting you I love giving hugs and will be your best friend. I will follow your lead and make sure you’re safe.

I don’t pull on walks but I do run after squirrels and cats. While I walk, my attention stays on who is walking me. I don’t bark except when I play with my doggy friends.

I love going to the dog park and making new friends .

I run as if I was still a puppy. I’m still quite young at only 5 years old and need my daily exercise.

I am house-trained and wait for you to get up so we can take a nice morning walk. I love car rides.

I am incredibly sweet and bright. Very eager to please and engaging. To know me is to love me. I have displayed some prey drive when I see cats or squirrels on my walks so I would not be a good match to live with small animals. I have not displayed any type of resource guarding.

If you have good knowledge of my breed and decent dog training experience, I just might be the ideal pooch for you. If you’re ready to commit to my well-being for the rest of my life.

Mimi Chi

Mimi Chi - 2

Mimi Chi is a 7 year old female Chihuahua. She was an indoor dog who never went out other than the yard. Never received any training either and was very spoiled and over fed. She weighs 9 pounds, which is too heavy for her delicate frame and so, she should go down in weight to about 6 or 7 pounds.

Mimi is now thriving in foster care. She’s a happy-go-lucky little clown. She is quite funny and knows it. If a dog can have a sense of humour, she’s got it! You just can tell that she loves to make people laugh.

Her overall disposition is simply exquisite; she is loving, affectionate, sweet, cuddly, eager to please, curious, bouncy, in other words, she is infinitely adorable and you just want to kiss her face raw.

She is trained on a pipipad but will do her business outside if you make it available to her. She tends to mark so keeping a couple of pads out for her convenience is good strategy.

After a while and getting used to new surroundings, she figures her way around the house.

Mimi loves her daily walks and it’s even better when her foster brothers come along.

She is very much scent oriented, she loves those new smells!

Leash walking is a skill she still has to perfect, but she is one smart cookie and will do whatever it takes to come along on that walk. She already knows to stay still while the leash is being put on and she’ll help along with her harness by putting her little head through the opening and lifting her paws. She knows what it all means.

Cats, birds and squirrels are fun to chase off the property. She may be small in size but not in spirit!

She is crate-trained and will go willingly in her cage for the night.

She has a good recall but sometimes the scent is just too enticing so mom will just have to wait a little.

She is not all that into toys, she prefers cuddles and kisses.
She is friendly with people when she meets them inside her home, she is a bit more skittish of them outside the house.

Her breathing is laborious, especially when she gets excited but as she loses that extra weight, it’ll get better.

She’s a picky eater courtesy of her previous feeding habits which consisted of pasta and tomato sauce and pretty much whatever her previous owner prepared for her but once a routine is established, she’ll thrive. She can be barky, she thinks she’s a guard dog after all, but not overly so.

Mimi is a total sweetheart and anybody would be lucky to have her.

Keeping her fit and slim will go a long way for her health. Sophie will have her teeth cleaned when she gets spayed and vaccinated asap. Keeping Mimi on a healthy diet with good quality food and providing her with proper oral maintenance is a must. No more getting spoiled rotten for Mimi. It’s time to be a real dog and enjoy lots of love as much as a structured and healthy lifestyle.

If you feel you would be the ideal human for Mimi, please contact info@sophiesdogadoption.com and tell us why. Montreal and area.Mimi Chi - 2

Freedom is what I was looking for when I wandered off into the cold streets of Kuujjuarapik. Unfortunately I am just a wee girl of barely 3 months old, so luckily someone found me and decided my new life should start in Montreal.

So that’s how I got my name. I arrived at the airport like a big girl, all by myself, but Sophie was there to pick me up and bring me home.

My mix is a pure guess, but seeing that my friendly home town mostly has Labradors, Huskies and Shepherds, chances are my folks were a mix of those breeds. But you never know, I have big feet, I could have a larger breed in my family line, maybe like a Bernese Mountain Dog. Who really know?.

Sophie says we’ll have a better idea once I mature a little. Will my ears stay down, will they be up, will one be up and one down? My future looks are yet to see, but my future looks pretty good!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjO68GwsAYE

Post by Sophie's Dog Adoption.

I’m Snow, the 11 year old Maltese that was given up with Schubert.

I’m as sweet and calm as can be, and fairly healthy for my age, despite me losing 22 teeth due to severe neglect of my mouth. Now my tongue sticks out, but it adds to my charm.

Now that I live alone, I don’t bark. I don’t have anyone to encourage me, but if you have a barky fellow, I will follow his lead. I am a pretty independent dude, so I can stay alone during the day with no problems.

Some see me as old, I am definitely considered a senior, but due to my breed and size, I could live into my late teens. My eyes and ears are slowly going, but it doesn’t bother me at all.

If you want to be the one to give me the care I’ll need and the love I deserve, I will be forever grateful and loyal to you.

Unlike my previous family, I hope you will love me till the end.

Post by Sophie's Dog Adoption.

I have a new name, Schubert, and am hoping for a new life. I am an 8 year old Maltese who had a horrible name, and a pretty plain life. I lived with a buddy, Snow (he was renamed too), and both of us were given up because of a “grandbaby” who would not come visit if we were still around.

So our mom and dad just give us up after all these years, our teeth were in a severe state of deterioration, having never gone to a vet since we were puppies.

Luckily I am a healthy and peppy little guy and ready to start a new family. By that, I mean find someone who wants me to be theirs for the rest of my life, and will treat me as I should when I start getting old.

I am a sweet, small and friendly Maltese, I was quite barky at my old home, but in foster care I’m learning it’s not a necessity.

I’m looking for a mellow life, not a busy household. A life where I’ll be included in outings, go for walks, meet other doggy friends, and basically chill on my bed.

Am I going to be your new best pal?

Bono

My name is Bono, and I am the most wonderful shih-tzu you will ever meet. Wonderful doesn’t even begin to describe me.

I am 4 years old and came from Mexico with my family last year. However, due to a situation back home, they had to return but could unfortunately not take me back with them.

It is obvious that if they could have sent for me, they would have. I have been evaluated and turn out to be what is considered in the rescue world as a “perfect pooch”. Literally. I have been staying with a foster home who takes me to work daily in his zootherapy program, and I am a true champ at this.

I am very tolerant of all manipulations, listen extremely well, never ever had an accident in the house, not barky, not hyper, good with kids, seniors, and pretty much anyone.

I am not destructive, so could easily stay home while you work, and have basically no issues. That is why I am considered “perfect”. Wouldn’t you agree from reading my bio?

I know I will be very popular, so if you want to be first, go download the application form and return it ASAP so you can meet me and see for yourself!

Manolo

Post by Sophie's Dog Adoption.

My name is Manolo, I am an 8 year old Standard Poodle, CKC registered and all, yet I was given up by my second home for no other reason than I was no longer wanted. Mom bought a condo, and I was not welcome there.

I was given up with my gal, 6 year old Caboose, but she was adopted right away. I was part of a “deal”, when one of us went, both had to leave immediately. So I ended up at Sophie’s Dog Adoption.

I am very healthy, my teeth were brushed regularly so quite nice, groomed often, and in general well taken care of all these years, other than there really was no love in my life for the last 4 years.

Now I am re-discovering having someone who gives me affection, attention, plays with me, takes me for walks, all the stuff a dog should do and I am just loving it! My foster mom finds me so funny, smart, well behaved, she pretty much describes me as perfect. Being a senior doesn’t mean I am not the guy for you. On the contrary, I am the best. Seriously! I play peek-a-boo, tug of war and all kinds of games. I’m no old boring dog.

I don’t see myself around young kids, or hyper dogs, but other than that any lifestyle will suit me just fine. I am easy going, will go with your schedule, your routine and lifestyle and be happy as a king!

Once you meet me, you’ll know what I mean about being the best! My charm, looks, good manners and sweet personality, I know you will not resist…

PipPip

image

I’ve been named Pip by my foster home because I’m really small, basicly I’m a pipsqueak. I’m a young miniature pinscher and the story goes that I was found as a stray. However because of who “found” me, Sophie strongly suspects that I’m related to Celina and Melina as well as Minnie. Those three (previously adopted), all came from the same source as the one who found me.

I’m no more than two years old, very tiny, fully house trained but quite afraid of the big world. I’m living with Mr. Big right now and I have to say he’s intimidating. My experience with other dogs seems very limited.

I would be great for a family, very gentle, loving and ready for that new life.image

Maggie XMaggie X

image Maggie X, because Sophie can’t remember how many Maggies’ she’s had. But I am by far the oldest. I’m a sweet twelve year old Shih-Tzu mix, and after a first home ended up at the SPCA. Seven years ago I was adopted by a gentleman, with whom I was loved and well taken care of. Unfortunately, life happens, and my Dad was placed in a home. Because of my age family members were going to send me to the SPCA where I certainly would have been put on death row.  After some thought they decided to hand me over to Sophie’s Dog Adoption. I’m sweet, healthy, playful, and just love everyone. I still have a lot of good years in front of me and would fit in with pretty much anyone, as I’m easy going.
