Tinkie Winkie

I’m Tinkie Winkie a 3 year old Lhasa Apso and I just got picked up from my foster home because I don’t like being totally alone and she had no other pets to keep company. So I need a new foster or permanent home with another dog. That’s my only issue, as I truly am a great little dog. Kids, cats and dogs I love them all.

Boy

My name is Boy. I am a sweet 7 year old dog who has lived a life tied to a dog house outdoors, and once my family decided I was ready to throw away and get a new puppy, some wonderful lady took me in to save my life. My breed has been a total guess, some said a mixture of Rotweiler/ChowChow, some said maybe Bouvier des Flandres/ChowChow, but after being with Sophie’s Dog adoption for several months, there is a good possibility I could be some kind of Otterhound mix. I have the characteristics and temperament, so it could very well be.

I have proven to be very good with the kids, but I can get excitable with excited, young kids, and huge dogs with little kids don’t usually mix too well. I am great with people, but have some ‘leash aggression’ when I meet other dogs. When off leash, it can go well, or it can go not so well. I definitely need someone who can work with me on socialization with other dogs, or keep me away from them.

I looooove the indoors. This family who took me in really showed me the life! I don’t ever want to end up outside again, even though I am big and hairy, I am no Bigfoot! I don’t belong outdoors, I am a big Teddy Bear who will keep you warm at night if you’ll let me!

I am a very good boy, I can stay alone during the day, am not destructive, of course due to my age not high-energy, but always willing to go with you. I love car rides, even if it’s to go to the corner store. But it’s always better to walk me there as I don’t like my nails being clipped, so I need to trim them by walking regularly.

I also love playing fetch, so someone who wants to spend some time throwing a ball around with me would keep me in shape.

Spike 2

I am Spike 2. I am a sweet, smart, cute 5 month old (born in January 2010) and probably a Beagle/Boxer mix. I may have something else, like maybe Husky, as if you look at me very closely, you will see a faint mask above my eyes.

I am very smart, have learned how to heel, wait, sit, lay down, stay, go ahead and am fully housetrained. Of course, due to my young age, I am being crated during the day in order not to chew stuff up while you’re at work, but I am not a handful of a puppy.

I am very mellow indoors, and full of energy when it’s time to play outside. I love other dogs, kids, and could definitely live with cats as well.

Rouckey

My name is Rouckey. I am a beautiful, tall Boxer, and I am looking for a new home. I lived in a family with 2 kids, and my mom became a single mom so I ended up being too much. I spent lots of time alone and she felt it was not fair. After all, I am a boxer and I need to run and exercise.

I am 2 years old, absolutely gorgeous and very friendly. I just arrived and am a little stressed and fearful, so I will be evaluated and worked with so I become a good family dog.

I get along wonderfully with other dogs, young, old, large and small, and am supposed to be good with cats. I obviously love kids, am very tolerant and playful with them.

Twix

My name is Twix. I am a 9 month old Pug/Beagle mix (a little tall – but hey….), sweet as can be, very smart, obedient and friendly.

I am great with other dogs, love to play, good with cats, great with kids and just love people. I love attention, being petted, but I can be on my own to play with my toys as well. I have a thing for squeaky toys, I love those more than others!

I am good to stay alone during the day, I am fully housetrained, not a big barker as a rule, and very sweet. Still need a little work on the leah, but everything else I am very good at. I have had 3 basic courses with my first family, so not totally ignorant!

Gaetan

My new name is Gaetan, nicknamed Guy by my foster home. I am a mix, the guess is Boxer / Rhodesian Ridgeback due to my size and color. I am the sweetest guy, I was found as a stray and no one has come looking for me in the past 3 months. I was being held at a vet clinic in hopes someone would look for me, but in vain, so I was sent to Sophie’s Dog Adoption.

I am really sweet. Good with other dogs, calm during the day (don’t need a crate when I’m alone), would be good with kids as I am very gentle, well behaved and friendly. I am a loving boy, but curious about cats so I would need to learn how to behave around them.

Everything else about me is wonderful.

Seymour

My name is Seymour, and my journey has been a sad and deceiving one. My breeds are a guess, possibly Beagle, maybe Pitbull, maybe Lab, or maybe anything totally different than those, it’s a mystery.

I originally came to Sophies Dog Adoption at the age of 5, and I was adopted by a wonderful gentleman who gave me this dignified name of Seymour (I used to be known as Patapouf – seriously!). I am now 9 years old, and unfortunately have to look for a new home once again.

I had a wonderful life, but the last year of his life has been rough and I really helped him get through a lot of things. Unfortunately, being originally from Europe, he decided to go back and see if there was more luck at earning a living over there, and was really hoping to have me sent back to him.

Sophie offered to take me back in foster care for about 6 months in hopes that my Dad would be able to get his life together enough for me to go live in Europe with him, but it looks like it will not happen or at least not for another year or so, and due to my age now, he has decided to let Sophie find me a new home in order to have a stable life for my retirement years.

I am the best! Good with kids, cats, other dogs, I love people and am a wonderfully calm and quiet dog. I can stay alone while you’re at work without getting myself in trouble or making a mess, I am not a barker, I am just a loving soul in need of a loving family.

Floyd

My name is Floyd. I am around January 08, and have already been looking for a new home since October 08.

I am a beautiful American Bulldog and have the goofiest look. You see, I have a tongue that is way too long for my mouth, so I keep half of it hanging out on the side, most of the time. It gives me the most adorable look ever! However, no worries, it is a ‘defect’ and not a medical condition. This does not affect my breathing and does not require surgery.

I could be great with kids with time, but right now I am not very gentleas I am strong andbulky.I am not so good with other dogs, I need to be introduced one on one by someone with experience, as I can be ‘picky’ about who I like or not. I do not do good with cats at all, even though I ignore them on the street.

I do have a bit of a ‘mop’ obsession, maybe I was teased/hit with one as a youngster, I really don’t remember where this ‘attack the mop’ mode comes from. I’ve been working on it with my foster homes, but it still needs lots of work.

I am definitely a great dog, but need a very experienced owner when it comes to large,’bully’ types of breeds, as I tend to become ‘top dog’ very quickly. Once I am trained to act properly, I will be the best dog ever. I am extremely friendly, affectionate, attentive, and cuddly.

Christelle

My name is Christelle, my sisters are Dawn and Oprah, even though we look nothing alike. We are born on November 23, 2009 and are looking for new homes.

Our mom is a Beagle/Teckel mix and dad, believe it or not, is a Shepherd/Husky mix. I take more after Mom, who looks like an overgrown Teckel. I have the markings, but they could also be from the Shepeherd in Dad. Either way, I am cute as a button.

Of course, we are not housetrained yet, but are learning to go on paper. We should learn very quickly, as we are very smart.

I am the most skittish, hiding more than the other 2 Our size as adults is a real guess, but it should be somewhere between 30-60 lbs. hopefully not more.

Gazelle

My name is Gazelle, and believe it or not, as cute and sweet as I am, I was going to be euthanized by my ‘breeder’ as I was no longer good enough for production. They claim I’m 4 and a half, but according to Sophie, I’m more like 6 years old. My teeth are so full of tartar, I may lose a lot of them. I delivered my last litter 6 weeks ago and was already I was taken away from my pups. Poor pups who will be sold for hundreds of dollars….. We live in a sad world.

However, I was rescued and brought to Sophie’s Dog Adoption. I am paper-trained but also go outside, I am very mellow, a little skittish but really coming out of my shell as there are many dogs for me to learn from. I have been de-barked, so the neighbours won’t hear me, which makes me a good candidate for apartment living. It seems all my pups are de-barked at birth, just for that reason. To sell to apartment people.. Sad, but real!

I am very good with other dogs, would be good with kids as I am very tolerant of manipulation. So far, I have not growled, snapped, showed any teeth or anything of the sort.

I am supposed to be a ‘pure Chihuahua’, but it looks like I may have some Miniature Pinscher. Not sure, but could be. Either way, I am adorable with my big ears and curly tail!

Dawn

My name is Dawn, my sisters are Oprah and Christelle, even though we look nothing alike. We are born on November 23, 2009 and are looknig for new homes.

Our mom is a Beagle/Teckel mix and dad, believe it or not, is a Shepherd/Husky mx. I don’t actually look like any of my sisters nor my parents.

Of course, we are not housetrained yet, but are learning to go on paper. We should learn very quickly, as we are very smart.

I am the most quiet of the 3, and somehow look like a small Labrador. Our size as adults is a real guess, but it should be somewhere between 30-60 lbs. hopefully not more.

Dixie

My name is Dixie. I was found wandering the streets of Montreal on December 29th, one of the coldest days this year. I had a rope tied around my neck with my name written in pen, ‘Dixie’…. I guess I didn’t turn out to be the Christmas gift they were expecting…..

I am a sweet girl, about 4 months old, probably Beagle/Collie mix. I am very friendly, clean in the house (even though I am crated when no one is home), calm, and quiet. I am very cute, and can melt your heart, but since I’m a puppy, I will need someone who will not spoil me and turn me into a monster.

I have proven to be a great girl so far, so I am looking for someone who will continue educating me the right way, so I will not bounce back once I become a teenager…

Mum

My name is Mum. I should be arriving from Beirut, Lebanon on January 17,2010 if all goes as planned. I am a very playful, affectionate, loving dog who gets along great with other dogs.

I have never been around cats in Lebanon, so it is still unknown how I will react, but I am a gentle girl so with some training, I should learn to love them. I was rescued from the streets with my tips of my ears cut off, as is a tradition in Lebanon for some people. It is a myth that by cutting our ears off when we are puppies and making us eat them, it makes us aggressive. But this is just a cruel myth.

The first one of us to make it to Montreal to Sophie’s Dog Adoption a couple of years back was AngelBoy, a dude kind of like me who had the same fate. He is the most loving and gentle soul and I heard loves his new life in Montreal. So I am dreaming for the same. A family who will overlook my atrophied ears and love me for who I am, not for how I look. I will be grateful for the rest of my life, and I hope to have a bed of my own just like AngelBoy has (I heard he even has his own couch – now that’s the life!!).

Bozo

I have been named Bozo by the SPCA who picked me up as a stray. Yup, a stray. I am assumed to be between 6-8 years old, and am healthy but do have calcium deposits on my eyes, which causes me not to see so well.

I am a BIG boy, weighing in at about 36 lbs, but a very mellow and friendly guy. I love going for walks, I get along fine with other dogs, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon as well.

I would do very well in most any family, as I love just about everyone.

Filou

I have been named Filou. I was found wandering around in the country, in really bad shape. I was sick, lonely and cold. My hair was falling out, I was itchy and my skin was so damaged it looked like I might have cancer. I am about 5 years old, and Sophie was going to do anything to save me!

So I was brought to a vet, a biopsy was taken, blood tests, skin scrapings, I was neutered and treated for all and every parasites in case I had some.

Sophie’s Dog Adoption who is the forever optimist, was relieved when told it was probably allergies due to food or the environment I was living in. I may have been sleeping on something like insulation or something similar.

I was shaved down, given medicated shampoos, medication, and good quality food, and I am like new. One of my ears has been damaged in the past, probably due to a fight or an accident and not taken care of, so it folds down and is scarred. But it gives me a look that melts your heart!

I have come out of my shell and LOVE the indoors and my new foster home. I have a couple of beds to choose from, dog friends and toys to play with, someone to kiss me, hug me, love me, talk sweet to me, and I just LOVE it! After a life of living outside (as my coat evidently proved), I have now gotten used to the luxury of living indoors.

My hair is growing in, my skin is getting better, and the itchiness is all gone. I am a bit of a scavenger, though, so I like to get into the garbage and any kind of food that is left behind. I was used to fending for myself, and probably went around into peoples’ garbage when they left their cottages for the week!

I am starting to make friends at the dog park, but I also like to protect it and bark when people enter. It has become my new ‘property’ when we go out, and it actually makes people laugh. I have a loud voice and can be heard across the park! I will make sure to protect your property if you adopt me!

I am a very sweet boy, love kids, other dogs, and would probably do well with cats. To know me is to love me, I will charm your heart in a nanosecond!
