Cooper

My name is Cooper, I am about 1 1/2 years old and still very much a teenager.

I am a big boy, which is why the guess I might have some Mastiff. But it’s really just a guess.

I love people, other dogs, cats, kids, but I am a little dominant and excitable so I need someone who will know how to handle me. An Alpha is what I need, or I will manipulate and take over as boss of the house! I had a rough start, having already had 2 homes (if you can call them that) where my life meant being tied outside to a doghouse, and the family/kids coming to play with me once in a while. So rules on how to play soft??? Don’t know. I like to bounce on you, chew on your arms, knock you down if I can, all in good fun!! But… that is not what people consider well-behaved, and for that I was put on death row at the shelter where I was brought.

I am good during the day, if crated, as I tend to try and find food wherever food may be. I am housetrained, calm in general, and very friendly.

Oscar 2

My name is Oscar 2, I am a sweet and loving Dachshund. I am a male, 4 years old, and lots of fun to be around.

I don’t care for male dogs, but I have not yet been neutered (this will be done before adoption), which probably doesn’t help. However, I love females. I am also great around cats, as I don’t even see them! Literally, I could walk right over one! So I don’t have any desire to chase them at all. However, I love to play ball. I could chase that all day!

I am not too crazy about kids either, so a family or couple with no children would be what I need. I am not mean to them, just run from them as they kind of scare me. I am fully housetrained so no worries there.

Bart

My name is Bart. I am a beautiful and sweet, 4 year old Wired-Hair Dachshund.

Unfortunately I have been bouncing around for several years, I am very cute and friendly, but have a ‘terrier’ side to me which makes me harder to deal with than your average dog.

I love people in general, am very friendly and affectionate, but once I know you. I don’t do well at all with strangers, especially if I feel threatened or intimidated. I am very protective of my family, and unfortunately have had a couple of biting incidents with people who get too close that I don’t know.

I also don’t do too well on a leash when meeting other dogs/people, but this is getting much better. In both cases, I can certainly be worked with, but I am looking for a family who is really determined to work with me and give me the chance at a real life.

Ideally, someone who would not have to walk me on a street with many dogs, so maybe someone out in the country or more out of town so I could either walk in a neighbourhood without meeting too many people, or better yet, someone with a yard.

As for the incidents with ‘strangers’, the family would have to make sure I am put behind a baby gate or muzzled when newcomers come to the house, once I know everyone, I am fine.

There is a family out there for me, I know it, my question is: when will they find me? I am absolutely adorable, I have a personality that will charm anyone if given the chance.

Please contact Sophie’s Dog Adoption if you are an experienced person or couple who wants to really give me a chance. Because of my fear of strangers, a family with no kids would be best. I love kids, but you never know what ‘strange’ friend they could bring home!!

Odie

My name is Odie, and I am the sweeeeetest little guy! I am about 1 year old, a Chihuhua mix, probably with Jack Russel or Shih-Tsu, from looking at my body structure! I weigh about 15 lbs or so.

I love everyone. People, dogs, cats, kids, I would probably be great for therapy, as I just love to be hugged and kissed and petted.

I am good during the day, can stay alone without getting myself in trouble or messing up your house!

Pooch

My name is Pooch, I will be arriving from Beirut, Lebanon as soon as we can find a flight to take me here.

I am maybe an Australian Terrier mix, but it is really hard to say. I am about ** years old, and was found in pretty bad condition after being hit by a car and left there to die on the streets of Beirut.

I was brought to the shelter up there, the vets thought I would never walk again as I seemed to be totally paralyzed from the rear end. They made me a wheelchair to get around in, and all of a sudden, miraculously, one day I was all better! Now I am running around, playing, being a real dog and am looking forward to a real life in Canada, in the snow, playing with a family and having a real bed to sleep in. The shelter is wonderful up there, but I hear of stories from my buddies who came up before me, and they say they’re in Heaven!

So I want my chance too at the American Dream, a loving family, a winter coat and boots, my own dish and bed and friends to play with at the dog park! Wow, it sounds too good to be true.

Poutchi 2

My name is Poutchi 2, and I am a wonderful American Eskimo. I am about 8 years old, and great for therapy. I have been visiting nursing homes for the last few years with my first family, but was given away to someone who really had no time for me as I am high maintenance due to my beautiful, white, long coat.

I can stay alone, go pretty much anywhere with you and I am always well behaved. I have absolutely no issues whatsoever, one of the few rescue dogs that Sophie considers ‘perfect’. I have no bad habits, you can only love me!

Rupert

I have been named Rupert. I am about 5 months old, and was found in September tied to a telephone pole, with my water bowl and a squeaky toy. By 9:00 pm, someone who had seen me there all day, realized I was abandoned, no one was coming back for me.

So I was brought to Sophie’s Dog Adoption, and have been looking for a home ever since. I am a sweet dog, but very dominant. I will need someone with experience and lots of patience.

I am a yellow dog, I could be something like Collie / Lab mix, but it’s really just a guess.

Esso

I have been named Esso. I am a 7 year old Boston/Lhasa Apso X and sweet as can be. Short-legged, but big on personality, I will charm your heart.

I am housetrained, good with kids, other dogs, cats and basically love people. I am not a big barker and can stay alone without getting in trouble.

I am a runner, I have been found as a stray and not claimed, which is how I ended up with Sophie’s Dog Adoption. The minute you open the door, I’m out! So I’m looking for someone who will teach me to not bolt, or at least be able to keep a good eye on me!

Schuffy

My name is Schuffy, and I am a sweet, sweet boy. I am very well behaved, housetrained, can stay alone during the day and love everyone. The only thing I don’t care for are WHEEL: bikes, strollers, skateboards, rollerblades, they make me go nuts.

My foster mom has been working very hard on this with me, and I am getting much better, but I still need some work. However, I am still very young, just about 1 year old, so I’m very eager to please, pay attention and learn.

So for the right person, I will be a wonderful companion, but I am certainly not for the inexperienced!

Toby 6

My name is Toby 6 and I am a victim of Petshops. I was purchased at Petland and already at the age of 8 months, I am looking for a new home.

I am a Bichon Frise/Yorkshire mix, and even though I look pretty scruffy, I am adorable. I am friendly, cuddly and affectionate.

I am very smart, I am housetrained and do very well when left alone. I am looking for a family with kids as I adore them, but someone active would do just as well.

Chico 2

My name is Chico 2 and I am the sweetest little chihuahua. I am about 5 years old, and very mellow and quiet.

I have never been outside until now, so I am used to going on pee-pee pads. I can learn to go outside, though, but it will be some adjustments.

I am not a biter, nor a barker, but a little weary of strangers. It will take me some time to come around and become cuddly. Right now, I’m not sure what people want from me….

But I am sweet and will make someone a wonderful companion once I come out of my shell.

Arthur

I have been named Arthur! I was found as a stray after having been sprayed by a skunk…. No one claimed me, I had a terrible ear infection and was to be put down since I wouldn’t let anyone approach my ears….

I look like a Cocker Spaniel except for my nose. Nobody can figure out where it comes from, but I’m about 6 years old and healthy as can be.

I was rescued, put in foster care, my ears have been looked at and taken care of, and I have been bathed! I am a whole new dog and ready to meet a family who will love me.

I have been snappy, so kids are out of the question as I never know when they could do something I don’t like. But I love people, getting kisses, my belly rubbed and being around them. I am great in the car, so far have proved to be good with other dogs and enjoy life in general.

Armand

I am a teeny, weeny, little puppy! Born around the end of August 08, I am already looking for a new home….. I was purchased by a lady who really couldn’t take care of me, she had purchased a Schnauzer puppy 2 months before getting me.

So I have been named Armand by Sophie and we figure right now I’m about 10 weeks old. This is the best time to get a Cocker Spaniel if you have kids, as we are not known to be good with kids if we are older and not used to them.

I am cute as a button, but you have to keep in mind there’s MUCH MORE to it than that! I’m also a little peeing/pooping machine, chewing everything my nose smells and my eyes see, I want a lot of attention and may not sleep through the first nights you bring me home… A puppy is cute, great fun, but lots of work, patience and knowledge to turn us into a great family member.

Keesha 2

I feel very left out and am not afraid to show my discontent by peeing the floor, chewing up the kids’ toys, anything to get someone’s attention.

So my mom can’t deal with it anymore and has decided it’s time for me to find a new home.

However, I am a very good dog! I am sweet, affectionate and a good companion. I am good with the kids, not a big barker, and just love life. I deserve a good home who will work with me in giving me back a sense of being loved and maybe become once again the center of attention!

Toto Spenser

My name was Toto, but the foster home didn’t like it and called me Spenser, so I’m now known as Toto Spenser!

I am a 1 year old Boston Terrier, the sweetest thing you’ve ever met. Loveable, huggable, kissable, and very mellow. Not your typical hyper Boston, I am the perfect little companion for anyone. I love everyone including kids, and love all critters: dogs, cats, ferrets, anything and anyone.

I can stay alone during the day, am housetrained, not a barker and just perfect.

Slinky

My name is Slinky, and I am a 2 year old Wire-Hair Dachshund. I am not a ‘show quality’ dog, as my hair is not quite what it should be, and I am slightly larger than your average Dachshund (plus I am overweight right now!), but I am loveable and sweet.

I weigh 33lbs, but should only weigh 25 as per the vet, so I’m on a diet, and will need to get those little legs running to lose that extra fat!

I love kids, other dogs, people, am friendly, affectionate and goofy looking. But I DO NOT like cats, rabbits, ferrets, or any other critters (including birds) as I am a hunter and could hurt one of those little non-canine/non-human species! Other than that, I am not at all dominant, I was ‘attacked’ by a vicious chihuahua (who I could have mistaken for a rat easily!!) and just backed away from her. Not my thing to get into a fight with a dog… just those darn cats and stuff!

Arno

My name is Arno, and I am a wonderful Cocker Spaniel, looking for a new home already at the age of 1.

I am very sweet, get along well with other dogs and cat and love kids, but I am very easily excitable so older kids would be better. I am housetrained, and generally a good boy, but keep in mind I am young and could get into stuff. Crate training would probably be a good idea until I settle into my new home.

Zeus 2

My name is Zeus 2, and at 3 1/2 months, I am already a victim of our consumer society. I was purchased at the age of 11 weeks from a petshop, by a young lady who just fell in love with my beautiful face.

However, even though she kept me ‘hidden’ from Mom who owns the house, I was discovered and all hell broke loose. It was either she move out with me, or I leave and she stays. Guess what happened?

So I’m in a foster home right now, hoping to find a family who will love me forever, no matter what shoes I chew up or what rug I pee on. Please, I am a cute baby, but don’t let that cute face fool you. I AM A BEAGLE, and if you don’t know how to raise me right, you are in for a life of misery! Beagles are not for everyone, we can be very stubborn and hard headed, and that nose of ours just leads us astray!!!

Laeticia

I have been named Laeticia, and I’m the sweetest little 6 month old Boxer.

I was found running around near the highway shortly after midnight one night, and was in an awful state. Malnourished and full of skin parasites, I was brought in and immediately taken care of.

I am now healing from all the scabs all over my body, and have started to enjoy life. I am very loving, and will be a very loyal girl to whoever loves me forever!

I was probably intended for breeding, and discovering these skin parasites on me, instead of treating me, they let it get really bad and then dumped me. I am living proof of the society we live in.
