Tinkie Winkie

Remember that nice family who took Idefix & myself in foster care? Well they have decided to officially adopt me. Despite my anxiety, they just couldn’t resist my good looks, charming personality and simply fell in love.

I have finally found a home where I will have all the love I want, tasty meals, lots of toys and most of all any veterinary care that I may require throughout my life.

British Max

I’m Max the British Spaniel! I’m a beautiful adult male but despite my handsome looks I’m looking for a new home. I have never been left alone as my family had a small business and brought me to work with them.

From the first day I arrived I was fearful of strangers and over the first year growled a few times at people and occasionally the kids at home. I grew up into a beautiful dog, very playful I love to swim and good with the kids. I live with three right now a 14 year old, 4 year old and 8 months old and I’m very gentle and friendly with all of them.

I’m very handsome and fully housetrained but I do have a few bad points that will need some work. I cannot be left alone for a long time, not so great at the dog park as I am a bit dominant (this may change as I was recently neutered) very alert and somewhat growly with strangers.

The reason I’m looking for a new home is that my human brother doesn’t want to walk me more then 10 minutes twice a day and Dad doesn’t have time. So Mom feel bad for me, spending my life sitting, waiting for a short walk, food and back to my place for more sitting and waiting. I’m a good dog and she wants me to have a better and happier life.

Oprah

Finally at the age of nine month I have also found a new home. I’m Oprah, I had arrived with my two sisters Christelle and Dawn back in the Spring, they had found homes almost immediately while spent my childhood in foster care.

My foster homes helped me become a well adjusted, well socialized, well behaved teenager and I hope to make my new Mom proud.

I hope to be there forever as it will be a great life.

Rayko

Hello there, my name is Rayko. I’m one of 7 puppies rescued with their mother after being abandoned in a storage unit!

My mum (Sunshine) and my foster mom are working with me to make me a happy, social and well behaved little boy. I get to go for lots of walks but my foster mom can barely make it down the street without people wanting to pet me! They tell me I’m very cute and are very impressed with my docile and friendly nature. I have a soft, healthy, beautiful tan coat with a dark muzzle. My toes and the tip of my tail are white.

I love napping and cuddling and chasing leaves when they blow in the wind.

I’m 2.5 months old now and ready to settle down. What I really want is to be a part of a family as loving as I am and a place to call home.

Briana & Riana

Our names are Briana and Riana and we are sisters. We’re born around the 1st of August and are what is known as Blue Nose Pitbulls. Both our parents are very stocky dogs (between 60 & 80lbs) so we should be big girls.

We are considered rejects because both of us have an underbite so we were given to Sophie’s Dog Adoption to make sure we would not be used for breeding. We hope to stay together a couple more weeks so we can continue our socialization.

Flossy

My name is Flossy and I arrived from Beirut in December 2009 and I was adopted almost immediately by a wonderful family with a couple of kids who renamed me Cody. I’m about five years old male and having lived in Lebanon all my life, I grew up to be a nervous dog.

Even though this new life in Montreal has been really wonderful for me, I do have some issues which still leave me very nervous around young kids and despite my new family working with me, things are not getting better and I’m not very accepting of the youngest child nor of children who come to visit. I have snapped a few times and even though I have made some progress I really would do better in a calmer environment with no young children. So I’m once again looking for that home who will truly be the right one as I am a real sweetheart.

Chico 4

My name is Chico 4. I am a miniature Pinscher, about 1 and a half years old, and looking for the right home.

I am right now, an ankle biter, I walk you down the street (on my hind legs), I want to lunge at everything that moves (bikes, roller blades, etc..) but Sophie has been working hard with me so I am no longer the boss…..

I am a quick learner, but I will need someone who can structure me, otherwise I will always remain a little pain in the butt.

I am very affectionate, try to play the ‘macho card’ sometimes by showing my teeth, pretending to want to bite (I put my teeth on your hands, but don’t really put any pressure)…. so I definitely don’t want to bounce around from home to home because I am a ‘typical’ pinscher.

Dilbert

I’ve been named Dilbert cause I’m a funny little guy. I’m about three months old, look like a little Husky mix and obviously quite neglected as I’m very skinny and bony. My ears will probably go up as one of them goes up and flips over which gives me that goofy look.

I’m looking for a foster home and eventually a permanent one. Obviously I’m a bouncy little puppy, friendly and seem pretty smart as I have not messed in my cage since I arrived yesterday.

Bert

My name is Bert and here’s my story…

I came to Sophie’s Dog Adoption at the age of 8 weeks old after I was found during a police raid in a town that banned Pitbulls. Despite my young age, I was given a death sentence. The vet who was to perform my execution, knowing I was an innocent victim, called Sophie to save my life. This was now almost 4 years ago.

At the age of three month, I found what Sophie hoped would be my forever family, but they had lied to her claiming Pitbulls were not banned in their town. Goofy as I am, I decided to explore the neighborhood and to play hide and seek in someone’s backyard. They didn’t find it funny and called the city to report a Pitbull in their yard. That led the city to seek me out, bring me home and proceed with an eviction notice.

Having ten days to get out of the city, my family called Sophie and admitted having lied about the Pitbull ban and despite the fact that Sophie was very upset, she took me back and swore to find me a real forever home.

The family she found wanted a perfect dog and she knew I was exactly the right dog for them despite their “prejudice” against “us vicious killer dogs”, she gave them the opportunity to take me in and see how perfect I truly was.

I’m very vocal and intimidating when I play which made them nervous at first, so Sophie came to work with them on getting to know my body language and showing them how sweet I really was. She warned them of the judgments, dirty looks, refusal from friends and family to come over and gave them plenty of time to make sure they were ready to cope with the fact other people would be prejudice, the adoption contract was officially signed and I became their Romeo.

For a year I was that Romeo, I went from a teenager to an adult and became more dominant and rough in my play with other dogs and my Mom was banned from the dog park. We were no longer welcome there and I guess the others ruled the park. That being said I started becoming more and more frustrated of having no friends to play with so I started wanting to go see dogs I met while on walks. Being very vocal it scared people and again my Mom started getting the look.

All that to say she did everything wrong by tugging me away, crossing the street, avoiding other dogs and forgot all the training Sophie had given her and in the end I was dragging her down the street to go meet some dogs. So what do you think happened next? Sophie got the call saying I had to go, “the true Pitbull, vicious killer” personality was coming out in me and I had to go.

Bottom line is she would rather keep going to the dog park with my “siblings” (little dogs) then to have people give her the look. So I came back to Sophie’s and I truly am the best dog ever, but I am a bully with other dogs. And the longer I stay here and share my space with other foster dogs, the more dominant I am getting with new dogs. I am also lacking exercise, but once I find that right family who will truly fulfill my needs (exercise, structure, discipline, love and attention), I will shine once again!

Baby

My name is Baby and I’m still looking for that forever home. I am the cutest pitbull mix you’ll ever see, from my ears you’d swear I was mixed with a Chihuahua!

I am about 4 years old, female, and sweet as can be (that’s the pitbull in me). My mix is unknown, my ears are big and upright which gives me a funny and gentle look.

I am a strong girl, quite muscular, so very little kids might not be good, but otherwise I would do great in any family. I am good to stay alone during the day, I am housetrained, and generally a good girl. Some work is needed on the leash walking thing, but I seem to be a quick-learner.

Raymond

Two down five to go. I’m Raymond, the second one of Sunshine’s 7 Rays to get officially adopted. I went to my new home tonight where my playmates are three cats a one, three and twenty year old cats. The two younger cats should enjoy playing with me, just hope the old one is not going to be grumpy in whack me to much.

Now I’m hoping my sister Raynelle will be the next one to be adopted as she is now left all by herself.

Squeaky

This is Squeaky and I was rescued by Sophie back in November (2009) and I’m thrilled to tell the world that I finally found my new home.

I was a scrawny little thing who had been abused. I’m now a little over 2 years old and have filled out and turned into an absolutely gorgeous Pitbull.

Despite the fact that I had been beaten with chains by my previous owner and had become so scared I was put on death row, I have never shown aggression and remained faithful to the human race. I will now have two loving humans and a doggy sister to fill my life with happiness.

Rayven

I’m Rayven one of Sunshine’s 7 Rays, the first little boy to be officially adopted. My foster mom, who had adopted Havana from Sophie, absolutely fell in love with me.

Even though I really look like mom, my big sister Havana is in fact mistaken for my mom as we look very similar. I hope all my brothers and sisters find a good home soon and maybe some of us will be able to get together for play dates.

Francis

Yay! I’m adopted! I’m Francis the two year old Pug who got lucky as I went into a foster home who was interested in possibly adopting me.

Since I’m such a great boy, charming and funny, after living with me for a couple of weeks they knew we could never part.

They love me, I love them and I’m such a little clown that I hope to brighten up all their days.

Augustina

I’ve now been to the vet and the little warts are nothing worrisome. They are common and will go away on their own. They can be contagious to other dogs but only if I’m in close contact such as wrestling or playing around as they could rupture and that would be how they spread.

I’m a bouncy, energetic, playful and of course somewhat annoying little girl. I’m doing fairly good with the crate training, and with someone to teach me stuff, I would be a quick learner. I’m desperately looking for a foster home, if you have other dogs Sophie can provide little pj’s and t-shirts to prevent the spreading of my warts. So please open your home to me as Sophie has no time to start educating me and the older boys here kind of pick on me. I’m too young for this old crowd.

François

I’m François a 3 year old Shih-tzu Bichon Frisé mix who was dumped by my mom at “grandma’s” house while she went on vacation. I guess she must of met another man as upon her return she decided I was no longer her little man. So she called grandma and basically said keep him, find him a home, do whatever he’s yours now.

They tried for a couple of months, but wanting to make sure I would find a good home they decided to ask Sophie to do so as they had heard how she has found so many wonderful homes for guys like me.

So I need a foster home and eventually of course a loving permanent home. I’m very gentle, quiet, friendly and seem to like everything and everyone. However Sophie was told that I’m an ankle biter but I haven’t done any of that since I arrived last night. But from what I hear Sophie will put her foot down and show me that it is unacceptable behavior.

Cocolita

My name is Cocolita and I’m a wonderful little girl who has been so spoiled that I have become a bit of a princess. I’m about two years old, a Maltese, all white and fluffy and cute as a button.

I’m now looking for a new home because my previous mom didn’t really have any time for me anymore. She had given me away, but that family ended up sending me back after many months. I guess my cuteness wasn’t enough to make me a keeper.

I am really sweet, very friendly, affectionate but I need a very structured lifestyle. To give you an idea my mom had told Sophie that I wasn’t good in the car because I want to be the one that drives. Of course Sophie didn’t let me drive and I have started to learn new rules. Please be my new family and help me turn into a sweet dog and not continue to spoil me rotten.

Ti-Gallop

I’m Ti-Gallop and you can find my original story here: http://www.adoptapet.com/pet2904535.html

I’ve been in the same foster home since I arrived last Fall and I have learned that I’m no longer King.

I still have a bit of a bossy side to me, but since I am now structured and have rules, I have learned to respect authority and no longer bite when thins don’t go my way.

I love my foster home and they absolutely adore me but are students in a roommate situation and neither of them are in a position to commit for the next ten years. It will break their hearts when I leave but will be thrilled to know I’m getting a good home. So please make them happy by offering me that loving home.

Coconut

I’m Coconut the big Shih-tzu mix who came to Sophie’s Dog Adoption about a month ago looking for a new home. I was quite popular and after serious screening, my potential home was found.

I went to meet them all today and I like them so much that I asked if I could spend the night. Sophie said yes and because I had not yet been neutered due to a shortage of appointments, she will pick me up tomorrow night and will return me from the chop-chop shop just in time for my new brother’s birthday. He will get his birthday gift, I will get my adoption goody bag, and what a party we’re going to have. I’m counting the nights until that celebration day.

Update: My adoption was finalized Tuesday and I arrived pulling Sophie out of the car leading the way with my goody bag.

Petey

This is Petey once again! I have found my next foster home and moved in today, hopefully until I finally get that loving family that I am searching for.

I really am a charmer, everyone who has known me so far has totally fallen in love with me. Unfortunately, of all the people I’ve met, none of those were looking to adopt a dog. I’m just so irresistible I can’t figure out why no one is inquiring about me.
